just took my 2005 tundra 4wd truck in for service and was informed that I needed a new:"gear" for the rack and pinion steering.. Truck has 86,600 miles, and extended warranty ran out in Nov.
2010. Is this a "normal " problem for that mileage

Don't know if this has been reported before or not but has happened several times with out warning while pulling in to a parking space and slowing down by putting pressure on break vehicle seems to 
not want to stop but speeds up so far I have
