I have a 1998 Mazda Protege LX Touring Edition (4dr) and need ...

I have a 1998 Mazda Protege LX Touring Edition (4dr) and need to install a rear-facing infant car seat (with base) in the back seat, preferably center position.  Because I purchased my Mazda used, I do not have the Owner's Manual.  I was told that the car seat base attaches onto a "latch"or hooks attached to the car's frame, found beneath the rear seats.  My car does not seem to have this feature.  What is the safest way to install my car seat?
